Overview

This lesson provides a basic introduction to concepts related to infectious disease with a focus on disease spread. Learners will explore concepts related to pathogenic organisms and their modes of transmission. Video content from the CDC provides a general overview of these topics.

Learners will explore one or more infectious diseases in detail and will use Chain of Infection models to understand and organize information about the characteristics of specific pathogens. They will also consider the Chain of Infection as a tool to understand potential strategies to interrupt disease transmission and slow or cease transmission within and between populations.
