The “One Health Approach to Understanding Emerging Infectious Disease” teaching resources were developed as part of an award from the US Health Resources and Services Agency (HRSA), which funded the “Establishment of a Future Pandemic Prevention & Rapid Response Institute at the University of California, Davis” (Federal Award Identification Number #: GE146251). HRSA funding enabled the establishment and launch of a new Institute, the UC Davis Institute for Pandemic Intelligence (IPI) in 2022.
Part of the core IPI mission is to support cross-disciplinary communication and translation of expert knowledge, and facilitate public-sector access, training, and research to engage and train the next generation of transdisciplinary scientists and clinicians needed to address future pandemic threats. These teaching resources were developed by the IPI team, or curated from publicly available learning materials with a target audience of undergraduate or graduate learners and are intended to be incorporated into higher educational or professional school curricula. Several lessons and activities were designed to cover critical gaps in offerings based on instructor needs and to bridge under-represented disciplines in the sciences such as humanities and the arts.
